Fanart for Toph Bei Fong of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Toph is an earthbender, and she's pretty tough. So Toph is tough… she's a Toph one, lol, geddit?

I have to dedicate this piece to ~TheLadyGrey who first turned me on to Avatar by sending me a link to Toph's Wikipedia page with the message:
You want there to be more strong female characters in popular literature/ television/ etc.
I found one:
Toph Bei Fong, the most awesome kick-butt female to ever grace the television screen.
I was watching my Avatar Christmas present and couldn't help but think she was the sort of character you would come up with!

So, thank you to ~TheLadyGrey, this one's for you, and all the other Toph fans out there. It's sort of a celebration of the Season 2 finale, when she learns how to bend metal; though she has come out looking a little older than in the canon. My brother says she looks like a younger me. To which I say, my brother is very, very smart and sees through all my tricks, even the ones I play on myself. :XD: Because Toph does remind me of myself quite a bit.

I guess the only way you can tell us apart, for real, is that I am not blind. Because… I can also break rocks with my head and beat up muscly guys. Oh yeah, you know I can. =P

I love the watercolor. you did an excellent job holding it together. I know its a wild and unruly medium. you keep producing awesome work. I honestly cannot find any problems in the last two pieces of work you produced. teh watercolor in this one realy attributed to the grainy texture of rock you were going for. im gonna stop rambling now and fave it. XD

That sweet grainy texture comes from the paper, actually: cold press watercolor paper has a lot of "tooth" (or texture) to it, which shows through in the finished product. :)

I would love to have a conversation or contest between Toph and my character Rex, as both manipulate earth (and more). Sadly, I don't know the character well enough to make a proper story.

I told you! Toph is amazing! She is definitely my favorite female television character ever...although you can't ignore that Katara and Suki are awesome as well.

Apparently thinking Avatar is awesome is contagious. (I've corrupted my roommate, her boy friend, two other friends of mine, and now you!)

I love the crumpled metal and the rock texture. Very nice! Look forward to Toph improving her metalbending as the series continues. By the end she is pretty darn sweet (well...even more sweet).

Toph is pretty cool, I have to admit. :3 I watched the entire series in a 5 day run. BECAUSE IT WAS SUMMER. I HAD THE TIME. :3

It was awesome. I still want it for my oooown. :3
