This is either a brilliant piece of hilarious fanart
or an incredibly retarded idea.
Well, basically
There seems to be this theme of curses, and/or special Right Hand/Arms in stories, specifically comics and anime. These vary from the moderately annoying but cool, (such as Ed's automail) to the downright scary (Ashitaka's curse). You'll note that a lot of these guys are rather whiny about their arms, or at least a little weary of the whole thing. You know, it get's old? Okay? Try having a Hell-hole in YOUR hand that is one day going to suck you into oblivion! See how you feel!
And then there's Hellboy.
I. Love. Hellboy.
Good on ya man, that's the attitude.
Anyway, all these guys and their respective arm troubles and stories are (from left):
Miroku
From Inuyasha by Takahashi Rumiko
~Has a veritable black hole in the palm of his right hand. Sealed by prayer beads, unsealed it can suck up just about anything. Widens every year, and one day will consume him. Also known as the Kazaana.
Ashitaka
From Hayao Miyazaki's awe-inspiring movie Princess Mononoke.
~Was cursed when a dying demon touched his right arm. The curse will slowly consume his body and tear his soul apart. Very painful, very nasty. The upshot is, unlike just about all these other guys, he got himself cured eventually. See the movie, it rocks.
Edward Elric
From Fullmetal Alchemist by Arakawa Hiromu
~Lost his right arm (and part of his left leg) while practicing forbidden alchemy. Now he has a fake arm and leg made out of metal and wire, called Automail. The stuff is pretty cool, and Ed can transform part of his arm into useful things such as knives, umbrellas, screwdrivers, etc. Basically, he got off pretty easy.
Rucipher
From the webcomic The Iron Wizard by your's truly and *ArofaTamahn
~Rucipher is a cyborg, and has not only a fully mechanical right arm, but a mech left forearm, legs, and right torso. To see what arm he's refering to, take a peak at THIS.
And lastly, Hellboy
From the Comic by Mike Mignola, although this particular drawing used reference from the movie.
~His right hand is made of an ultra hard stone-like substance. Good for bashing monsters in the head, stopping uncoming cars, and punching through brick walls. Oh yeah, and opening the Gate to the Bottomless Pit that will Unleash the Apocolypse, but that's not as fun.
Enjoy, despite the fast Copic coloring. Admire Hellboy's face I love it!
Neo: "Excellent work here! I've noticed that alot of different characters have problems with their right arms. It's definately a theme. Once again, good job on this pic!"

Thanks! I'd noticed it too, and even inadvertently put it into my own character (Rucipher), so I figured I'd might as well spoof it.
Thanks for the fave!
