Finally… finally finished! This is the final piece in my "Fan of" series, covering all the items listed under "fan of" in my old, old devID. This is the picture I had in mind from the beginning, and I'm glad I left it til last otherwise it probably would have come out a lot worse. It's a picture of one of the great duos in literary history history; for as we remember Holmes & Watson, Jekyll & Hyde, Penn & Teller _{(wait, they're real… sort of)} so we must also remember Aubrey & Maturin.

Here we can see Jack Aubrey, fresh off his promotion from Lieutenant to Master and Commander, still glowing with satisfaction, and dear Stephen Maturin in ill-temper (perhaps he has not yet had his coffee?) and his rusty black coat and powderless wig. I used no references from the movie Master and Commander as the actor who played Stephen was entirely far too handsome, but if Jack still looks a bit like Russell Crowe I contend it is because Russell Crowe simply looks rather like Jack Aubrey. But in the truth they have come out more resembling myself and my mother, even though my mother is not a sour, male ship's surgeon come intelligence agent, and I am not blond.
