My grandparents had a mural in their backyard: it was one of those semi-trompe l'oeil ones with a wall with an arched doorway, and sitting in that doorway was a lone black cat. It made a big impression on my five-year-old brain. I always wanted to go through the archway and see what was on the other side, and I always wished the cat would come to life.
Now, I don't know what kind of strange reverberations happened in my head to cause this, but somehow that cat and wall came back, and they brought some gold fish with them. And they demanded to be painted. So here you are. Something slightly surreal, and although the title is "Cat Dreams" I have to wonder who is actually dreaming here; the cat, the fish, or us? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Watercolors, prismacolor pencils, and acrylic ink of 8"x10" textured clayboard. 8 1/2" x 11" glossy print available for $5.00 + shipping and tax (CA only) at the Eltsar Press Prints Gallery.
